Challenge

In the summer of 2004, SecureWorks decided their existing website management tool was not working out. It was too difficult for the business users to write HTML by hand, page titles were not able to be updated resulting in decreased search engine traffic, and the learning curve was tremendous. There had to be a better solution.

Solution

SecureWorks consulted Spunlogic (spunlogic.com), their interactive agency, for a CMS recommendation. Spunlogic went out into the market and evaluated several CMS solutions.

There were several key factors that were required by SecureWorks for their CMS:

• Ability to manage numerous resource types including:

  • Press releases and news mentions
  • Monthly newsletters
  • Marketing information
  • Technical information
• Scalability

After several presentations from multiple vendors and thorough due diligence, Spunlogic recommended the Hannon Hill Cascade Server solution to SecureWorks.

• Dynamic pop-up DHTML top navigation items
• Automatically generated printer friendly and PDF version of every page
• Consistent page headings and titles important for search engine optimization
• Constant page layout with header and footer throughout
