I am the HR Coordinator here at Hannon Hill. I lead recruiting efforts and onboarding, implement policies, manage performance, and liaise between vendors and our employees. I also have the privilege of planning and executing fun things like employee events to continue to encourage a positive workplace environment.
I've always been interested in understanding people and helping others. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology, which prepared me for that challenge. After working a few different jobs in management, I was even more enthusiastic about the workforce and being able to encourage a work culture where employees feel valued.
There's so much to enjoy about working in Human Resources, especially at Hannon Hill. I deal with diverse daily challenges, from recruitment execution to conflict resolution. Being able to problem-solve makes the job exciting and engaging. I also love helping others and the impact I have.
Supporting employee growth and contributing to their well-being has been highly intrinsically rewarding!
I've learned the true meaning of a 'Life Learner.'
Life always has something new to explore, discover, and understand. Hannon Hill truly encourages this.
I have learned to use my natural curiosity to grow professionally and personally. Working at Hannon Hill has allowed me to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing world, deepening my understanding of myself and the world around me.
I'm a big advocate of self-care! Whether trying a new recipe, splurging on a candle, or taking my puppy Tuxedo for a walk, I'm always trying to find ways to prioritize my well-being. Being from Philadelphia, I was unaware of the many waterfalls and parks in the Atlanta area! I've had a lot of fun being able to go on these adventures inbetween the hustle and bustle of living in the city.
Sometimes, your soft skills can be even more impactful than your hard. A resume doesn't speak for itself. In HR, relationships and interpersonal skills are vital.
Skills like leadership, communication, and empathy can be hard to define; however, they are necessary to improve the employee experience and ensure that employees feel supported. Without them, you're unlikely to affect and promote change the way you'd like or be able to cope with the people-heavy field!
Thailand is on my list for next year! I don't know what I am more excited about: the food, the ancient temples, or the beautiful people and weather. I cannot wait to immerse myself in Thai culture. I always like to do some unusual tourism in different countries, and for Thailand, I hope to visit the Hell Garden, and a structure built entirely from beer bottles! (a Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew)
I was homeschooled my entire childhood. My mother, an artist and author, taught me from home since the second grade. I didn't realize it then, but being homeschooled allowed me to become a fuller version of myself and focus on topics I had a passion for, like reading and history. It's also where I found my love of travel, having the opportunity to visit some amazing countries as a family, such as Jordan and Egypt!
A primary motivation of mine is constant growth.
I am always looking for ways to better myself professionally and personally. I'm not afraid to take risks, overcome obstacles, and learn valuable lessons along the way!
